New Release: Blue and Gold 8

If you are a Booster Gold fan — and considering that you're reading Boosterrific.com, you probably are — stop for a minute to consider that the character's creator, Dan Jurgens, has materially contributed to Booster's development for the past 37 years and counting! That's a spectacular run and a lot of good comics. Thanks, Dan!

Which brings us to the end of Jurgen's latest set of adventures with his creation: Blue and Gold #8, hitting the shelves of your Local Comic Shop this week!

If you're eager for a look at the first few pages, AIPT.com has a preview, but you'll have to read the whole book to find out who the Black Beetle really is!

(Sneak peek courtesy longtime Booster booster Chris Aguinaldo, who traveled forward in time to get his hands on a copy early but *still* won't tell me who Black Beetle is!)

Booster Gold Sighting

Boosterphile Chris Aguinaldo was the first to tell me that All-Star Western writer Jimmy Palmiotti spilled the big news about his planned guest star in "Palmiotti Brings Superman to 'All-Star Western'."

CBR News: Although Superman's the character featured alongside Jonah on the cover, perhaps the bigger event was Gina bringing Jonah to the museum exhibiting his body. What was your process for designing the exhibit? The faux comic book covers were an especially nice touch.

Palmiotti: We thought it would be cool for Jonah to see the impact he made in his life -- good or bad, real or not, and have him process [the information]. The items in the exhibit are specific, and the actual stuffed Jonah is from a story originally told in the classic "Jonah Hex Spectacular," where we theoretically witness the end of Jonah's life. We have scrutinized that issue and plan on coming back to it later once the story moves from the current location. And, yes, Booster Gold will be in Issue 28 for those that love the character. Things will be moving quickly.

So, to recap: BOOSTER GOLD WILL BE IN ALL-STAR WESTERN #28!

The book will be released on February 26. You can read more about what to expect in the issue in Steve Sunu's full interview at ComicBookResources.com.

Thanks to Chris for spreading the good word.

JL8 Is Great

Booster booster Chris Aguinaldo was the first point my attention to Li'l Blue and Gold, appearing in the latest installment of the JL8 webcomic by Yale Stewart.

I have to admit, I had never heard of JL8 until Wednesday, but it seems that many of you are already following it. As I said, Chris was the first to point me in that direction via email, but I have also gotten notifications about it in Twitter and private messages, and it is even a thread in the Boosterrific Forum. Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know about it!

Stewart has taken this strip one step further and merchandised it with a "Cheese it, Ted!" golden t-shirt that you can order at Society6.com.

Thanks to Yale for making such a Boosterrific comic and shirt (why doesn't Boosterrific.com offer any t-shirts?), and to everyone else for pointing it out.

OUTATIME

I put NBC (one of the "Big Three" broadcast networks) and USA (where "Characters [are] Welcome") among the poll options because they share the same parent company as SyFy: NBCUniversal. They certainly didn't fare well in the poll. Don't make them mad, people. They're still the company in charge of Booster Gold's immediate television future!

Last week's poll question: What television network would you most like to see air a Booster Gold television series? (56 votes)

What television network would you most like to see air a Booster Gold television series?

Earlier this week, Booster booster Chris Aguinaldo pointed my attention to Newsarama's list of "The 10 Best TIME-TRAVELING Heroes of All Time!" I must say that I do agree with their number 1 choice. However, with so many comic heroes having time traveled at some point in their adventures, their inclusion criteria seemed a little haphazard. (If an unwilling Silver Age Green Lantern can make the list, why not a willing Silver Age Batman or Superman?)

Therefore, I made my own list of time-displaced heroes, specifically heroes who have found themselves doing a majority of their adventuring in a time other than their native era, and I thought I'd turn it over to Booster Gold fans for a vote. What do you have to say? (And before you ask, Booster and Rip Hunter aren't on the list because they're the obvious #1 and #2 choices around here. Really, we're polling for 3rd place!)
